MicroSerum opens its first data center in Montreal

[Montréal, Québec, December 20 th 2018] IT company MicroSerum, founded by young entrepreneurs Karl Morin and Gabriel Boutin, opens its first data center in Montreal (MTL 1).

The construction of this company owned data center officially began in Q2 of 2018. Its new infrastructure allows MicroSerum to expand its IT capacity, better its customer service and offer shared colocation and custom dedicated server services.

The facility’s electrical capacity is of 50Kw, 22 of which are being deployed as part of a first phase. The power feed is backed-up by electrical redundancy equipement to maintain services available in the event of a power outage. The data center is aditionnally equipped with an entirely redundant cooling system (2N). Multiple physical and biometric control points coupled with 24/7/365 surveillance ensure the installation’s security.

The data center is strategically located in the south-west of the Island of Montreal, allowing access to a stable and eco-friendly power network. Furthermore, its location allows wired and wireless connectivity to other data centers.

MTL 1 also hosts MicroSerum’s independent network (AS31846). It will allow the business to better control its service’s quality and ensure its complete independence from any other provider.

The company itself and the Development Bank of Canada invested over $100 000 in the project.
